Meet the Team
Scott Malo, Owner
Scott has been in the horticulture field since 1986. He is a graduate of Pinkerton Academy where he started taking horticulture classes. He graduated from the University of New Hampshire Thompson School of Applied Science Horticultural Technology Program. For nine years, Scott was employed with a prominent landscaping company working his way from laborer to a division manager. In 1996, he founded Shade Tree Landscaping where he keeps his eyes on the details.
Scott enjoys outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, skiing, snowmobiling and motorcycling with his wife and two children.
Valerie, Office Manager
Valerie joined the company in 2008 as the Office Manager to oversee all accounting and financial reporting/management for the company. Valerie graduated from Castle Jr. College with a degree in Business. For 10 years, she worked in Human Resources for Lockheed Sanders in Nashua, NH.
Valerie lives in Candia with her husband and their two daughters. Valerie and her family enjoy skiing, hiking, boating, kayaking and paddle boarding.
Duane, Crew Foreman & Hardscape Installer
Shade Tree Landscaping hired Duane as a Crew Member in 2008. Today, Duane is a Crew Foreman for our landscape construction division. Duane has over 15 years experience in the landscaping/lawn care industry. His many years of experience with landscaping makes him a great Crew Leader. Not only does Duane install hardscapes (e.g. walkways, patios, retaining walls) and plantings, he is experienced in all aspects of lawn and landscape maintenance. Duane also keeps us up and running by maintaining our fleet of equipment. Duane is a “jack-of-all-trades”.
Duane and his family live in Concord and are avid campers. They enjoy traveling and camping at multiple New England destinations.
John, Crew Foreman
John started plowing for Shade Tree Landscaping in 2011. In 2014, he joined the company full-time as a Crew Member. In 2015, he was promoted to Crew Foreman for our landscape maintenance division. John's background was in lawn fertilization for seven years prior to joining Shade Tree Landscaping, and he is knowledgeable in all types of grasses.
John likes woodworking in his free time and enjoys family activities with his two daughters particularly softball, soccer and snow tubing.
